At the agreed time your driver will collect you from your accommodation taking the most scenic route, along the Amalfi Drive, at just circa 1 hour’s drive, is the modern town of Herculaneum, under which is the ancient site. This buried by a mud flow has been amazingly well-preserved where one can see materials like wood still part of the structures. Much smaller than Pompei, it was certainly wealthier and more select, with what has been found left in place.

A full-day excursion can be complimented with a visit to Pompei, or Naples, or even returning by way of Sorrento-Positano-Amalfi.
